Using Powershop

Powershop is here to give you control over your energy, so you can save more and make a difference – bringing you a better way to power your home or business. We sell power in different amounts called Powerpacks. With Powershop, you can purchase power for yesterday, today, tomorrow, and even for two months ahead – it’s your choice. It’s a nice kind of power to have. With Powershop’s online tools and smartphone app, you can keep an eye on your usage and how much it’s costing you anywhere, anytime. Plus, we offset 100% of the carbon associated with our customers’ electricity usage, at no extra cost to our customers. We’re Australia’s greenest electricity retailer (Greenpeace 2014, 2015 & 2018), and we make purchasing 100% GreenPower easy and manageable. There are no lock-in contracts, no exit fees and no credit card fees.
No, there is no requirement to pay in advance to keep your power going. We will automatically top up your account each month using your preferred payment method if you have not bought enough Powerpacks to cover your usage. You will not be cut-off just because you haven’t logged in and bought power during the month.

Powerpacks are the way we package and offer our electricity for sale. Powerpacks come in a variety of sizes and prices so you can purchase as little or as much power as you want at anytime. Monitor your consumption of Powerpacks with the Power Organiser online, it shows you how long you can expect your Powerpack purchases to last, based on your recent usage.

Future Packs are full of power to use at a later date allowing you to budget ahead and spread the cost, GreenPower Packs have environmental benefits, and Special Packs and deals offer great value. Soon our store will have Packs to support good causes and charities too. You can choose to buy different Packs at the same time, anytime you login.

Powerpacks enable you to buy power incrementally so you won’t have to open those scary electricity bills ever again. Buy Powerpacks weekly or fortnightly if that suits the way you budget, and if you haven’t needed us to buy power on your behalf then we’ll be emailing you only receipts.

'The Shop' is where you choose from all our different Powerpacks on offer. All you need to do is pick which pack you’d like to buy, add it to your cart and check out!
There are two ways to pay your bill. Buy it yourself by grabbing Powerpacks in the Shop or we'll buy it on your behalf (but you won't save as much). Buying power yourself: If you want to buy power yourself just log in to the Shop and top up your account with whatever Powerpack that takes your fancy. Leaving it up to Powershop to buy your power: If you want to leave it up to Powershop to buy power on your behalf you don't need to do anything. Just keep using power as per normal and we'll send you out a monthly email letting you know how much power you've used and how much we will debit your active payment method.
By credit card: We accept Visa, Mastercard and Amex. You can set this up when you switch to Powershop, and the money will be debited from your credit card when you are billed or when you buy power yourself through the online shop. By direct debit: You can set this up when you switch to Powershop, and the money will be debited from your bank account when you are billed or when you buy power yourself through the online shop. By BPAY: You set this up through your bank's website. Choose the power you want from Powershop then use your bank's bill payment process to make your payment. Direct Deposit: We give our bank deposit details and you deposit directly into our account. Your ‘active’ payment method You can nominate either direct debit or credit card as your active payment method. We'll then use this payment method when an auto-payment is created on your account. You can pay for your power in arrears or in advance – it's up to you. You can choose to pay for power yourself by buying products through the online shop, or you can leave it up to us and we will make purchases on your behalf using your active payment method. Generally, payments are scheduled for 12 days after we have purchased power on your behalf. These are called ‘scheduled payment dates’. Other payment features Once your active payment method has been set up, there are a couple of payment features we offer:
  • If a scheduled payment date (a payment on your account triggered by Powershop) doesn't suit, you can change the date through your account. You can do this by logging into the shop and going to ‘My Account’. Just click on ‘Move Payment Date’ and follow the instructions. This button will only appear when a payment has been scheduled.
  • You can also add a few dollars onto your account without having to buy any products, great for those times when you have some spare dollars you want to use wisely. To do this, just log into your Powershop account and go to ‘My Account’. Then simply click on ‘Add Money’ and fill in the details. Easy.
If you'd like to set up a regular payment date that coincides with when you get paid, just give us a call.
No you won't be charged extra, there are no credit card transaction or convenience fees.
