SYM supercharge terms and conditions

Referee terms and conditions:

To be eligible to receive the $100 credit (Friend Credit) you’ll need to join via the referral link sent to you or call Powershop and state your friend’s name with the Powershop account on or before 30 November 2020.

The Friend Credit will be applied to your Powershop account in four equal instalments over nine months; you will receive the first instalment day one of becoming a Powershop customer, the second instalment 90 days after becoming a customer the third instalment 184 days after becoming a customer and the final instalment 275 days after becoming a customer (Instalments). The Friend Credit can only be used as a credit on your Powershop electricity account and cannot be refunded or redeemed for cash.

The Friend Credit is not available in conjunction with any other sign up credit available through Powershop from time to time. You are not eligible to receive the Friend Credit if you have been a customer in the last 12 months.

Powershop may, at its absolute discretion, either decline to apply the Friend Credit or, if it has already been applied, remove the Friend Credit from the relevant account where Powershop reasonably believes that you and/or the person who referred you are taking unfair advantage of this offer.

Powershop may require proof of identification or a tenancy agreement in order to verify eligibility for this offer. You can contact Powershop at www.powershop.com.au or by calling 1800 462 668.

Referrer terms and conditions:

If you have a Powershop electricity account and successfully switch a friend, family member or business who is eligible to receive the Friend Credit and who signs up an account to Powershop via your unique referral code by 30 November 2020, you'll get a $100 credit to use on your electricity account with Powershop (Referrer Credit). Offer only available in VIC, NSW, SA and South East QLD.

You'll receive the Referrer Credit once your invited friend or family member has successfully switched (e.g. we start selling them energy) to Powershop using the referral code.

The Referrer Credit is not available in conjunction with any other sign up offers available through Powershop from time to time.

That Referrer Credit can only be used as a credit off your Powershop electricity account and cannot be refunded or redeemed for cash.

Powershop runs the Switch Your Mates Supercharged promotion solely to allow customers to refer their friends or family. You acknowledge and agree to participate in this promotion in a responsible manner. If Powershop in its sole opinion considers you are not complying with these terms and conditions, we may ban you from being able to use this promotion in the future.

Terms and Conditions

Acceptance of conditions

  1. Information on eligibility to enter and the Prize form part of these SYMS Prize Draw Terms and Conditions. Participation in this competition is deemed acceptance of these Terms and Conditions.

Restrictions on entry

  1. Entry is open only to Powershop customers over the age of 18 who have an active electricity account during the Competition Period, excluding directors, management, officers and employees (and the immediate families of directors, management, officers and employees) of Powershop, of Powershop’s related corporations, or of any other agencies or entities associated with this competition. To be eligible to win a Prize, the status of the entrant’s electricity account must be billable by Powershop at the time of the competition draw (i.e. they must not be in the process of cancelling their eligible account, or have cancelled their eligible account or transferred their eligible account to another provider) ("Eligible Entrant/s").

Duration of competition

  1. The competition opens at 9am AEDT on 13 November 2020 and closes at 11:59pm on 30 November 2020 ("Competition Period").

Method of Entry

  1. To enter, you must;
    1. sign up to an electricity account with Powershop as part of the Switch your Mates Supercharge campaign during the Competition Period and continue being signed up at the date/time of the competition draw (SYM Friend); or
    2. have an existing electricity account with Powershop and successfully switch a SYM Friend during the Competition Period (SYM Referrer).
  2. Each SYM Friend may only enter this competition once.
  3. Each SYM Referrer will receive one entry in the competition draw per SYM Friend they switch using their unique referral link.
  4. All SYM Friend’s and SYM Referrer’s will be automatically entered into the competition draw by Powershop, unless they choose to opt-out of the competition prior to the closing date of the Competition Period by contacting Powershop.
  5. Entries not fully complying with these Terms and Conditions may be deemed invalid at Powershop’s discretion.

Winner selection

  1. One hundred (100) Eligible Entrants will be selected at random from all Eligible Entries received during the Competition Period in accordance with these Terms and Conditions to win the Prize (Winners).
  2. The Winners will be drawn on Wednesday 27 January 2021.

Personal Information

  1. An Eligible Entrant agrees that Powershop may, in the event the Eligible Entrant is a Winner, publish or cause to be published the Winner's name and locality in any media, as required under the relevant State or Territory lottery legislation.
  2. By entering this competition, Eligible Entrants consent to the use of their information as described. Eligible Entrants may access and/or change their data by following the procedures in Powershop's Privacy Policy powershop.com.au/privacy-policyor by contacting Powershop.

Prize details

  1. Each Winner will receive one ‘Super Credit’ valued at AUD$264 applied as a credit on their Powershop electricity account (Prize).

Notification of winners

  1. Each Winner will be notified via email using the Winner’s Powershop account contact details on Wednesday 27 January 2021.
  2. The results of this competition including each Winner’s name will be published on the Powershop blog after the draw on Wednesday 27 January 2021. 

Awarding prizes

  1. Powershop may require each Winner to provide proof of identify and proof of age. Identification considered suitable for verification is at Powershop’s discretion.

Disqualification of entries

  1. Powershop may, in its sole discretion, disqualify all entries from, and prohibit further participation in this competition by, any person who tampers with or benefits from any tampering with the entry process or with the operation of the competition or acts in violation of these conditions, acts in a disruptive manner or acts with the intent or effect of annoying, abusing, threatening or harassing any other person.
  2. Powershop may in its absolute discretion cancel the Prize or otherwise cease to provide any benefit of a Prize to a Winner if a Winner, in the opinion of Powershop, behaves aggressively or offensively, or behaves in a manner which may diminish the good name or reputation of Powershop or any of its related bodies corporate or the agencies or companies associated with this competition, is contrary to law or is otherwise inappropriate.

Changes in prize value

  1. No part of a Prize is transferable or exchangeable and cannot be redeemed for cash. The Prize can only be used as a credit toward the account balance to which it is applied. Any unused balance of the Prize will be forfeited by the Winner and cash will not be supplied in lieu of that element of the Prize if for any reason the Winner does take or use their Prize. Powershop accepts no responsibility for any variation in Prize value.

Awarding of prizes

  1. The Prize will be applied to the Powershop electricity account of the Winner by Friday 29 January 2021.

Exclusion of liability

  1. Powershop and its associated agencies and companies will not be liable for any loss (including, without limitation, indirect, special or consequential loss or loss of profits), expense, damage, personal injury or death which is suffered or sustained (whether or not arising from any person's negligence or wilful misconduct) in connection with this competition or accepting or using any Prize, except for any liability which cannot be excluded by law (in which case that liability is limited to the minimum allowable by law).

Problems affecting competition

  1. If for any reason any aspect of this competition is not capable of running as planned, including by reason of computer virus, communications network failure, bugs, tampering, unauthorised intervention, fraud, technical failure or any cause beyond the control of Powershop, Powershop may in its sole discretion cancel, terminate, modify or suspend the competition, or invalidate any affected entries.

Privacy statement

  1. All entries will be the property of Powershop. The information entrants provide will be used by Powershop for the purpose of conducting this competition and for the purpose of promoting Powershop. Powershop may disclose entrants’ personal information to its contractors and agents to assist in conducting this competition or communicating with entrants. Powershop is bound by the Australian Privacy Principles in the Privacy Act 1988. All entrants personal information will be managed in accordance with Powershop Australia’s Privacy Policy which can be found at powershop.com.au/privacy-policy. Our privacy policy contains information about how Entrants can request access to the personal information Powershop holds about them, and how entrants can make a complaint regarding the handling of Entrant’s personal information.

Facebook and Social Media Statement

  1. This competition is in no way sponsored, endorsed or administered by, or associated with, Facebook and / or any other social media site(s). The entrant releases Facebook from all liability in relation to the competition. The entrant is providing information to Powershop and not to Facebook.
