No, for a standard switch there is no connection fee.
Where possible, we’ll attempt to turn your power on remotely. Some circumstances require us to send a technician to finalise this and turn on your power. There may be fees associated with new connections, special meter reads, after-hours, or same-day connection requests.

After signing up there’s only one thing left to do – before we connect the electricity at your new home, you’ll need to ensure the main switch is in the ‘off’ position. We’ll need safe access to the meter, so if you can’t access the property before you move in, contact your real estate agent to get this sorted for you.
Switching your electricity company is quick and stress free. It takes about 5 minutes to sign up to Powershop online. You can also sign up over the phone.
You don’t need to worry about being disconnected, sitting on hold with your current retailer, or being billed twice for the same period. You can get started here – join now or get a quote.
No, your power shouldn’t be disconnected. Switching to Powershop at your new home just involves the transfer of information. We won’t be touching any equipment affecting your supply.
When you tell us you’re moving property, we’ll ask for your move in date. We will do our best to get the power connected on the day you request. The more notice you give us, the better! We’ll need about 3 business days’ notice for gas connections.
The power can be connected at any time on that day, so if you need it by a certain time, it might be best to get us to connect you the day before.
We cannot connect power on public holidays or weekends so if you’re moving in on a weekend be sure to get it connected from the Friday. Find out more about our same business day connections for electricity.
Powershop is currently retailing in VIC, NSW, South East QLD, and SA. Gas is currently only available for most of VIC and NSW. Check out our Join Now page to confirm we’re available at your new address.
