Our generation

At Powershop, we give a dam about renewables. Our parent company is Australasia’s largest 100% renewable generator. We’re firmly invested in developing even more renewable generation, to contribute to a greener energy future, and to help us pass savings back to our customers.

Meridian Energy owns only renewable generation assets, and we’ve also entered into a number of Power Purchase Agreements (PPAs) – where we agree to buy a certain amount of power from a renewable generation assets, in support of new renewable generation around Australia.

Location: Eyre Peninsula, South Australia

Output: Approximately 180 GWh of renewable energy each year (35 turbines).

That means: Enough to power around 36,000* households.

Humble brag: The Mt Millar Wind Farm was the first wind farm in South Australia to use direct drive turbines that don’t have gear boxes.

Eyre Peninsula, South Australia

Location: Mount Mercer, Victoria

Output:Approximately 400 GWh of renewable energy each year (64 turbines).

That means: Enough to power around 80,000* households.

Humble brag: The power that’s generated at Mt Mercer is enough to result in a reduction of some 510,000 tonnes of carbon dioxide.

Mt Mercer, Victoria

Location: Leonard’s Hill, Victoria

Output: The farm’s two turbines, Gale and Gusto produce about 11 GWh per year.

That means: Enough clean energy for over 2000* homes.

Humble brag: Hepburn Wind is the owner and operator of Australia’s first community-owned wind farm. We partner with Hepburn Wind to manage Gale and Gusto  and provide top class expertise to help maintain the community owned wind farm.

Hepburn Wind Farm

(Community owned)

Leonard’s Hill, Victoria

Location: Woorndoo, Victoria

Output: Annual output of 172 GWh.

That means: It will have capacity to power around 34,000* homes.

Humble brag: A 2012 study found that for every 50 MW in capacity, a wind farm delivers $250,000 per year for farmers in land rental income and $80,000 on community projects each year.

Salt Creek Wind Farm

(PPA)

Construction completed August 2018

Location: Pyramul, NSW

Output: Crudine Ridge will produce approximately 414 GWh of renewable energy.

That means: Once operational, it will generate enough energy for around 80,000* homes.

Humble brag: The estimated annual greenhouse gas savings from the Crudine Ridge project is 325,000 tonnes of CO2 equivalent.
