Same business day electricity connections
We know how important it is to have your power connected and ready for your big move, which is why we offer same business day electricity connections on most accounts.
*Same day connections are not available on weekends and public holidays.
VIC
If your property is in VIC and has a smart meter, we can usually get your electricity connection set up on the same business day, but you’re best to call and speak to us before 4pm. The more notice you give us the better. If you have a basic meter or a site that requires a physical connection, we may not be able to do a same business day connection. We’ll need about 3 business days’ notice for gas connections.
NSW and SA
If you’re moving house in NSW or SA, you’ll need to call and speak to us before 2pm local time so we can attempt your electricity set-up for the same business day. If you contact us after this time but still need same day connection, you may have to pay an after-hours fee.

QLD
If your property is in QLD, please call and speak to us before 12pm for same business day connection (between 1pm and 6pm that day).
What if there’s a power fault or connection issue?
We’ll do our best to get you set up as fast as possible, however if your distributor’s technician finds a fault or there’s an issue with your power supply, we may require extra time for an additional technician to visit your property to fix the issue!

No, unless your property requires substantial work or an after-hours or same day re-connection or a new meter installation. (Special fees do apply in these situations and we will advise you of the costs in advance).

No, unfortunately your electricity cannot be connected in 5 minutes. However, it only takes minutes to sign up with Powershop online and book your move. And if you call us in time, you could have a same business day connection – call us on 1800 462 668. We’ll need about 3 business days’ notice for gas connections.
Before we connect your power at your new home you’ll need to ensure the main switch is in the off position. If you can’t access the property before you move in, contact your real estate agent to get this sorted for you.
Switching your electricity company is quick. It takes about 5 minutes to sign up to Powershop online. You can also sign up over the phone.
You don’t need to worry about losing power, sitting on hold with your current retailer, or being billed twice for the same period.
No, your power won’t be cut off (unless your current supplier has already informed you of disconnection because of outstanding payment). Switching to Powershop just involves the transfer of information. We won’t be touching any equipment affecting your supply.
First things first: check that your main switch is in the ON position. Sometimes there can be a couple of main switches, so check inside your property and check at your meter — all main switches will need to be on. If you have checked your main switch, and you still don’t have any power, give us a call on 1800 462 668.
