What tools does Powershop offer solar customers?

Solar topic:

There are two key tools Powershop solar customers can access: Insights and Heat Map

  1. Insights – you can access insights via the ‘Solar’ tab of the Powershop app, or ‘Usage’ on your desktop account. Use the app to track your energy usage, and see how much you fed into the grid on a daily or half-hourly basis.
  2. Heat Map – the heat map is only available in your desktop account. Log in and head to the Usage tab to find your solar consumption and export information in half hourly increments over a period of time so you can see your usage and export hot spots.

Daily feed-in: shows you how much solar energy you fed into the grid that day.
Half hourly feed-in: shows how much your solar fed into the grid in half hourly increments for the day you’re viewing in the daily feed-in graph.
Total daily feed-in: shows you how much solar energy you fed into the grid in kWh.

The Heatmap represents power fed-in as half hourly blocks (1 day is equal to 1 row of 48 blocks) in a colour scale ranging from dark blue (low feed-in) to white (high feed-in).

Each coloured square of the chart is one half hour period of one day. A brighter square is a higher feed-in half hour and a darker square is a lower feed-in. Hover over a square to see how much you fed in in that half hour.

Checking when your PV systems starts and stops generating each day can help you to decide when to use your electricity, for example running the dishwasher in the middle of the day instead of overnight.

Knowing when your system starts and stops generating for the day, and keeping track of what you use and what you generate can help you make changes to your habits that can help you save.

Remember, you need a smart meter to get the most accurate data in your insights, and to access the heat map. Want a smart meter installed? Contact us here.
