We’re happy when the wind is blowing and our wind turbines are spinning. To celebrate these days, we’ve decided to give a limited number of our customer’s free power for a day! We call this a Free Power Day.
Get a smart meter so you can participate
You need to have a smart meter to participate in the Free Power Day so we can calculate your electricity usage and give it to you for free! We can arrange installation of a smart meter for you for free (in most cases). Just fill out the smart meter form here.
P.S. If you’re in Victoria, you already have a smart meter!
Free Power Day FAQs
Yes, it covers all your electricity usage between 12.00am – 11.59pm on the Free Power Day. It doesn’t cover your daily supply charge or any other non-usage charges that apply for that day.
Free Power Day is in a trial phase for now, but we’re aiming for a few times a year. We’re keen to make our customers happy by helping them save on their energy, so we’ll do it as often as we can.
For now, this is only available to our residential customers with a smart meter who successfully redeem a Free Power Day.
Around $5 a day. This is based on the average daily usage of about 15,000 of our smart meter customers.
When there is plenty of wind blowing at our wind farms and we feel like celebrating, we’ll give a limited number of customers the chance to redeem a Free Power Day.
After the Free Power Day, a saving will be applied to the Powershop electricity account of eligible customers within 5 business days, as long as they’ve redeemed a Free Power Day when they’re up for grabs. If you’re a new customer that is eligible for the Free Power Day (welcome!), a $10 saving will be applied to your electricity account when you officially become a Powershop customer (this can take up to 5 weeks).
We’ll email eligible customers when we enter free power mode. Time to redeem a Free Power Day is limited and only available for the first 30,000 customers, so you’ll have to get in quick to secure it.
No, this saving is for electricity usage only and excludes gas and daily supply charges.
