Powershop Australia helps light up Vivid Sydney!

Powershop 1 min read June 17, 2015

For over 18 days in May & June, Sydney’s skyline was transformed with an array of lighting installations popping up all over the city. Welcome to Vivid Sydney – a festival of light, music and ideas. This year, Powershop was proud to be in the background helping it all happen.

The festival involved lighting installations, a world-class line-up of concert and music performances, public ideas programs, creative industry workshops and conferences across 13 precincts around the city. While this year’s physical footprint was bigger than ever, its environmental footprint decreased. By working with Powershop Australia, Destination Sydney [Vivid’s organisers] have offset all of their expected emissions by purchasing GreenPower accredited certificates sourced from renewable energy projects in NSW that have zero net greenhouse gas emissions and minimal impact on the environment.

Importantly, this energy is additional to the amount of renewable energy already in the grid as mandated by the Commonwealth Government’s Renewable Energy Target. By purchasing GreenPower, customers like Destination Sydney, are helping to drive investment in Australia’s renewable energy industry. It’s exciting to think that events of this scale are able to have a positive impact on the renewables industry in Australia!

We were thrilled to be involved in Vivid Sydney and to demonstrate how energy use at any event can be fully offset through purchasing Australian renewable energy. If you missed the festival here are a few highlights: http://www.vividsydney.com/
